Critically-acclaimed director Lijo Jose Pellissery has unveiled the trailer of his upcoming film, Churuli. On July 1, he shared the YouTube link to the trailer of Churuli, which seems like a dark and eerie tale.

The three-minute-long trailer of Churuli begins with animated visuals. A woman begins narrating a story about a phantom. Soon, we see actors Chemban Vinod, Vinay Forrt and a few others riding through a forest in a jeep.

These men are in search of a person named Mayiladanparambil Joy. Soon, the visuals get eerie with many spooky things happening. Churuli seems like a trademark Lijo Jose’s film with elements of mystery, humour and terrific performances.

Here’s the trailer:

Lijo Jose was in the news recently as he took to Facebook to express his thoughts on freedom of artistes to create content. The Malayalam producers’ association in Kerala had instructed directors not to begin shooting of new movies and asked them to wait for the pending ones to release.

Due to the shut down of theatres because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, more than 60 films couldn’t release. Lijo objected this decision and said that a director should be allowed to create content on his terms.

Churuli’s story is written by Vinoy Thomas, while its screenplay is by S Hareesh. According to reports, Churuli was shot in just 19 days.
