Drishyam 2: Mohanlal’s much-awaited thriller to go on floors in August

Mohanlal’s Drishyam 2, directed by Jeethu Joseph, is likely to go on floors on August 17, according to reports.

Mohanlal’s Drishyam, which released in 2013, is one of the best thrillers ever made in Indian cinema. In fact, its the first film in Malayalam to garner over Rs 50 crore at the box office.

On the occasion of Mohanlal’s 60th birthday (May 21) , the actor announced that Drishyam sequel is on the cards and Jeethu Joseph will direct it. Now, reports suggest that the much-anticipated film will go on floors from August 17. Sources say that Mohanlal has agreed to shoot for the film from mid-August and has infact called industry experts and producers for a meet this weekend.

In the meet, they are likely to discuss safety measures and other financial to overcome the crisis situation. Drishyam 2 is in pre-production and the rest of the cast will be announced soon. The film will be bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor.

Last month, Kerala government eased lockdown restrictions and allowed film shooting. Movie sets are gradually coming back to life. In fact, a Malayalam film titled Tsunami resumed the shoot in mid-June with a minimal crew.

The film industry had been instructed to follow necessary guidelines and safety precautions. They have also been instructed to take Covid-19 tests on a regular basis post shoot.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, was supposed to hit the screens in April. However, due to Covid-19 outbreak, the film got postponed. He has also signed another film titled Ram with director Jeethu Joseph. The makers have decided to shoot next year as major portions of the film must be shot abroad.
