Since Delhi University is conducting online open book exams for the first time this year, as per the university’s arrangements, the DU mock tests for the open book exams will be on from July 4 to July 8.
However, the first day of the DU mock tests 2020 have gone off to a bad start and Twitter is filling up with students complaining about various kinds of issues from power cut issues and inability of students to even log in, to problems with wrong question papers.
This shows the range of problems that will likely crop up when the Delhi University open book exams for final semester students actually start off from July 10. They were earlier supposed to begin from July 1 but got postponed in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As per reports, Delhi University teachers have been fielding frantic phone calls, messages and emails from their students regarding the ‘mockery’ that is being made of the DU mock tests for the open book exams starting in a few days.
The DU mock tests are being held for final semester exams of undergraduate and postgraduate (regular, NCWEB, SOL) students in open book exam mode.
The link for DU mock tests in online open book mode has been active from July 2.
In the open book exam, students have to answer each question on a separate sheet and upload them on the portal for each question so that the paper evaluation can be smoothly conducted.
Problems being faced in DU mock tests 2020
As per reports, here are a few of the problems Delhi University students have been facing in the DU open book exam mock tests that started off from Saturday:
- Students are unable to log in to the Delhi University portal to access the mock tests
- The website keeps crashing
- Many students reported incorrect question papers since all of the subject papers have not been uploaded
- Change in question paper pattern or question types
- Mock tests are not available for students who are supposed to go to CSC centres
- The answer sheet upload size limit is 5 MB which means that students might need to compress their answer sheets
- Incomplete instructions regarding DU mock tests on the Delhi University portal
Here are tweets from Delhi University students which show the range of problems being faced in the online DU mock tests 2020.

Apparently, the DU mock tests are only for students to understand the procedure and not for actual practice before the DU open book exams since the “question papers given for mock tests are only indicative”:
